The Author
Scott invites you to give "Heartstrings" a read. He says, "As a former journalist, I've been exposed to many dark and unusual corners of life. I wrote of these corners and delivered their stories on-air. In time, I came to find out that such corners existed within the parameters of my own world, as well."
This book is meant to deliver an entertaining, albeit dark story while delving deeply into a troubled soul's suicidal contemplations after falling prey to a con. Lesson being: Beware, the Big Bad Wolf does exist, dangerous as ever, with an eye especially for unwary ladies.
Scott holds a bachelor's degree in Speech Communications, Radio/TV/Film from Northern Illinois University. He has anchored and reported for affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS.
Scott also cuts commercial voiceovers for fun and has been a Finalist for "Outstanding Commercial Demo Reel, Best Male Voice" by the Society of Voice Arts & Sciences (SOVAS).

Scott has covered historic events from a courtroom drama playing out on a national stage, to the documentation of environmental tragedies that warped lives. He was in on gritty stakeouts and overnight-hour drug busts, and slipped into devastated tornado alley towns, reporting back all was not well. Every new market he worked had its own heavy stories.
Scott’s plan was to learn about what goes on in the world to build a solid foundation for writing novels. That plan seemed to be working. However, as he soon found out, there was more to learn about life than what the cesspools of crime and politics could teach him. Like how to raise his children as a single dad.
As a kid, Scott took to mimicking cartoon characters and celebrities of the day, marveling at the vocal versatilities they all displayed. When as a young man he found his way into broadcasting, the real fun began with successive news reporting gigs at AM rock-and-roll radio stations. That led to TV anchoring, then documentary filmmaking and voiceovers.
Scott was a Finalist for Outstanding Commercial Demo Reel, Best Male Voice by the Society of Voice Arts & Sciences (SOVAS) in 2014. The NYC Voice Arts Awards was a gala for him to remember, as he shared billing that night with James Earl Jones, the evening’s Lifetime Achievement honoree.

Outstanding effort... Scott Johnson's prose is engaging and concise, his character's are complex and the plot is a descent into the frailties of being human. I can only hope that Mr. Johnson has some additional tales in the works.
This story is a well written, modern day tragedy. The novel, which takes place in Chicago, concerns an affair between a young twenty-something white woman from the affluent North Shore suburbs and a black conman who grew up in the Cabrini Green housing projects.
Heartstrings in B Flat Minor touched an unexpected chord in me. Beyond the poignant characters, the diverse Chicago landscapes so descriptively portrayed, and the story line that gently drew me in and held me there …what was it?
In this novel Scott Johnson reminds us our deepest emotional need is the need to feel loved and there are people out there looking to prey on that need for personal gain. Well written and worth reading.
The author, Scott Johnson takes us on a voyage and as we all know -voyages are froth with unexpected perils. In our media-savvy society, Sheryl Taylor protects those around her and in her occupation but fails to take care of herself.
It is fast paced and a real page turner. The key relationship between the hustler and a tour guide span their lives. Their relationship is dramatic, creates powerful tension and a remarkable psychological landscape.
I was thoroughly drawn in by this book. When I had to put it down I could not wait to pick it up again. Scott Johnson's Heartstrings in B-flat Minor is a story of seduction, intrigue and adventure, as captivating to read as is the purpose of its beguiling character Dr. Sterling Jackson.
